Sauna and Bathroom Renovation
The Karppanen family improved the comfort of their cottage by extending it by six square metres. The new extension was used to create compact and practical washing and utility room facilities.
The bathroom was given a striking new dark look with a minimalist, contemporary style. New drainage pipes were installed in the extension and connected to the existing main sewer line.
The sauna was completely transformed. The wooden panelling was treated with a dark-tinted sauna finish, and new benches were custom-built from heat-treated wood, which performs exceptionally well in the hot and humid conditions of a sauna.
At the same time, the shower area, the wall behind the sauna heater and the floor tiling in the lakeside sauna were renewed. New underfloor heating was also installed in the sauna and adjoining areas to improve comfort.
A well-ventilated suspended timber floor structure was built for the cottage extension. The wall frame was constructed from timber, and the customer selected environmentally friendly, naturally breathable Ekovilla cellulose insulation together with an air barrier membrane.
